A Private Outdoor Room in Dallas

This Dallas homeowner wanted a dedicated poolside retreat — a standalone shade and entertaining space built for outdoor living. The result is a 12′ × 15′ solid roof pergola with an integrated seamless gutter, a custom wood grain privacy wall, and a complete lighting and fan package.

The black aluminum frame anchors the structure with a bold, modern look. The wood grain roof panels and privacy wall add warmth without the maintenance of real wood. LED lighting runs the perimeter, and a ceiling fan keeps the space comfortable year-round.

Integrated gutters channel rainwater away cleanly — no exposed downspouts, no pooling on the deck.

Design Decisions That Made This Project Work

The wood grain roof panels and privacy wall were the key design choices here. Real wood requires sealing, staining, and eventual replacement — aluminum with a wood grain powder coat delivers the same visual warmth with none of the upkeep. In the Dallas heat and humidity, that distinction matters over a 20-year ownership horizon.

The integrated seamless gutter runs the full perimeter, channeling water away from the patio surface and the pool edge. No exposed downspouts, no water pooling at the base of the posts. The LED perimeter lighting was routed through the frame during fabrication — no visible conduit, no surface-mounted fixtures disrupting the clean lines.

Privacy walls are increasingly common on Dallas projects. HOA’s in many neighborhoods allow structures up to a certain height — the privacy wall here was engineered to comply with local setback and height requirements while still delivering full visual separation from the adjacent property.

Built for Dallas Conditions

North Texas gets the full range — 100°F summers, hail, and wind events that can exceed 70 mph. The black aluminum frame on this project is powder coated to withstand UV exposure and temperature cycling without fading or chalking. All fasteners and hardware are stainless or coated to prevent corrosion in the humid summer months.

The solid roof panel system is rated for local snow and wind loads — engineered plans and permit documentation were provided as part of the project deliverables.

Cabana Theory serves the Dallas area for solid roof pergola and patio cover projects of all scales — from compact poolside retreats to full outdoor room systems. Every project is custom-fabricated and installed by our own crew, not subcontracted.
